Two Maryland Horses Test Positive For Deadly Disease

Two horses on the Eastern Shore test positive for Eastern Equine Encephalitis which is spread by mosquitoes.
The disease is similar to West Nile Virus, but its considered to be far more dangerous because it can cause neurological symptoms in humans that are often fatal.
The last time a horse in Maryland contracted the deadly disease was in 1996. The last human case in Maryland was a Dorchester man who died of the disease in 1989.
