Australian SAS, Soldiers and Sailors Go to War

A contingent of 350 Australian soldiers and sailors left Sydney today to join US forces in the Arabian Gulf. Australia already deployed two ORION surveillance aircraft and two Navy frigates to the American assault force.

Members of the elite SAS regiment will be farewelled in Perth Friday. Defence analysts are essentially certain that the war against Iraq is now inevitable.
