National Emergency Listening Frequencies

March 18, 2003

Hello Steve;

The news reports from Tom Ridge say that they "EXPECT" many attempts at terrorist activities both overseas and domestically when we launch against Iraq. I went to the store today one last time to pick up a few items and there was hardly anyone there!! I then had to go to my doctor and get a blood pressure done and I asked the nurse what she thought about the deadly flu that seems to be coming. To say that she was unconcerned was an understatement!! We have such a spirit of denial in this country it is unbelievable.

I am a member of Army Mars and know that an Opord is going to be sent out soon and this will be a large domestic operation. On the communications side (which is all I see directly) I am already seeing emails coming out of Ft. Huachuca of a vastly increased alert status. (I will email you a copy of the Opord when it comes out but this is a confidential document so please use discretion) The listeners may be interested in a few frequencies to monitor incase of everything shutting down.

10.493 Usb FEMA NECN (National Emergency Coordination Net) Daytime Freq
5.211 Usb FEMA NECN Nitetime Frequency
13.996 Usb Army Mars National Emergency Guard Freq - Daytime
6.999 Lsb Army Mars Nat Emerg Guard Freq- Nitetime
5.236 Lsb SHARES (Federal Agencies Backup HF communication network) nite
14.396.5 Usb SHARES - day
10.586.5 Usb SHARES - day

USB - Upper Side Band
LSB - Lower Side Band

If any listeners have only an AM capable shortwave radio then they can use there BFO knob on the radio to tune the transmission after they are on frequency. These frequencies are not widely disseminated so don't identify me if you read them on the air. More to follow.

Take Care,
