This year Mars will pass closer to the earth than any time in recorded history.

The planets in our solar system orbit the sun at different rates. Our earth takes 365 days to complete it's orbit, Mars takes 687 days. During one Martian year the earth passes between it and the sun twice, known as (oppositions) in astronomy. Because Mars' orbit is so elliptical, the distance between it and earth varies greatly from opposition to opposition. This year in August, Mars will be nearer to earth than it has been in 59,000 years. It will appear 4 times larger and 50 times brighter that it appears now, at the time of this writing, January13th 03. This close pass is more significant with respect to world event than most can imagine.

Celestial south is at the top

This coming August may be the time of unprecedented violence on this earth. The United States by that time will be in the quagmire of war in the Middle East- if not also with nuclear capable North Korea.

August is also corresponds to the Hebrew month Av, the month of the year in which both the 1st and 2nd temple in Jerusalem was destroyed. Av was also the month of the burning of the Warsaw ghetto, the signing the "final solution" by Hitler, the "night of broken glass", the expulsion of Jews from the Pales in Russia and many other woeful events in Jewish history.

In Roman history, under the reign of Augustus (63 BC-AD 14), Mars became Mars Ultor ("Mars the Avenger" of Julius Caesar), and a personal guardian of Augustus.

The preeminent UFO researcher of the 1960s Jacques Vallee discovered that during closest oppositions between Earth and Mars, UFO sighting reports would greatly increase.

In his book, Challenge to Science The UFO Enigma, Vallee presented a graph of UFO waves from 1947 to 1962 with sharp spikes showing pronounced increase in sightings during close passes with Mars.

Among the multitude of sightings made during the time period in Vallee's Mars opposition table were the following:

On June 10, 1892, beams as if from a searchlight were projected from Mars to Earth, a phenomenon that was witnessed again in 1928 and the winter of 1936 by French astronomers and confirmed by Professor Robert Damion, an astronomer and editor of a then popular scientific journal.

On August 3, 1892, witnesses in Manchester and Loughborough, England, saw rapid flashes of light on Mars that were not aurorae. At least from this period through 1936, occasional "flaming up" of a "queer bluish light" was noticed on the Martian surface, recurring at regular intervals for up to forty seconds.

The Vallees' discovered an extremely probable connection between the UFO phenomenon and the planet Mars. No apparent relationship exists between the phenomenon and other planets. Other researchers have verified a connection between Mars oppositions and UFO waves. In The World's Greatest UFO Mysteries, Nigel Blundell and Roger Boar wrote:

"UFOlogists noted that the sighting peak years of 1967 and 1973 coincided with the time when the orbit of Mars brought it closest to Earth."

The two biggest subsequent UFO waves in the modern era over the next five to eleven years - 1967 and 1973, both occurred during peak Mars oppositions.

Astronomers at the end of the 19th century were obsessed with the prospect of intelligent life-and civilization- on Mars. This was especially the contention of Percival Lowell.

During the closest approach of Mars to the earth in August 1924 the U.S. Government ordered all radio transmitters in the country to maintain radio silence for 5 minutes on the hour, every hour for 2 days in which to listen for signals during the close transit with Mars [35,000,000 miles from Earth] from August 21 to August 23rd. This was called "National Radio Silence Day." All American military transmitters were ordered shut down during this time.

The leader of the project was Dr. David Peck Todd, former head of the Amherst College astronomy department and friend of Percival Lowell. .

Heading the operation for the Army was Major General Charles Saltzman and Admiral Edward W. Eberlen, Chief of Naval Operations.

World renowned code expert William F. Friedman, then Chief of the Code Section in the office of the Chief Signal Officer of the Army was standing by to translate any messages that may have come from Mars. Friedman became chief technical consultant to the National Security Agency in 1952 and two years later became the special assistant to the director of the National Security Agency.

At the US Naval Observatory a radio receiver was lifted 3000 meters above the ground in a dirigible tuned to a wavelength between 5 and 6 kilometers to record Martian signals during the silent periods. The U.S. Naval Observatory worked with Amherst College's newly developed "radio photo message continuous recording machine" or "Radio-Camera" invented by Francis Jenkins. This machine produced flashes of light that were recorded on film whenever an incoming radio wave was detected. On August 21st the Jenkins Radio-Camera was turned on. A roll of sensitized paper about thirty feet long and about six inches wide, slowly moved past a point of light modulated by electrical radio signals fed from an antenna on Todd's dirigible aimed at Mars.

After 36 hours of recording, the film was developed and Francis Jenkins, the machine's inventor, told a press conference that the device had received signals. In addition to a fairly regular arrangement of dots and dashes clusters of signals which seemed to appear every thirty minutes. The film also showed:

"a repetition at intervals of about a half hour what appears to be a human face."

These strange patterns were reported to the public five days later on August 28, 1924 in the New York Times:

MYSTERY DOTS AND DASHES WAS MARS SIGNALLING? WHAT THE PHOTOGRAPHIC FILM REVEALED.

The development of the photographic film of the radio signals for the 29 hour period while Mars was close to Earth, deepens the mystery of the dots and dashes heard by widely separated powerful stations. The film disclosed in black and white a regular arrangement of dots and dashes along one side. On the other, at about evenly spaced intervals, are curiously jumbled groups, each taking the form of a crudely drawn face.

The film record of the radio signals was later sent to Virginia Military Institute where it was confiscated by the NSA (National Security Agency). The general description of this experiment is derived from accounts carried in the Washington Post, August 21-22, 1924. This event occurred 52 years before the Martian Viking Orbiter 1 photographed the Martian surface feature known as the "face", originally noted by Toby Owen in 1976 and 63 years before the Publication of Richard Hoagland's "Monuments of Mars: City on the Edge of Forever" in 1987.

The confluence of events, the closest pass of Mars in human history- the location and nature of the earth's next great war near Israel, and the soon coming "revelations of artificiality of Cydonia" by R.C Hoagland concerning the newly released IR images from the Mars Odyssey seems to suggest an up-coming event of "great significance".

According to the authors Lyn Marzulli and Michael Hieser a recently published Dead Sea text named the "Angel scroll" describes a great war of the future raging around Jerusalem. However, in this description there is a unexpected Ufological theme- the war ends as "fiery disk" fight on the side of the Israelites.

An unprecedentedly visible UFO display might correspond to the close pass of Mars, according to the Vallee research. It also might fulfill a counterfeit to the prophecy of Zechariah 14:5

And the valley of my mountains shall be stopped up, for the valley of the mountains shall touch the side of it; and you shall flee as you fled from the earthquake in the days of Uzzi'ah king of Judah. Then the LORD your God will come, and all the holy ones with him.

Holy ones?

In the case of the true Messiah they are the translated saints-who return with him at the final battle of Armageddon.

In the case of an Antichrist seeking to convince the world that he is Israel's Messiah could they be extraterrestrials appearing during the culmination of a great war in Israel- a false battle of Armageddon ? It should be remembered that the Mars worshipping Romans sacked Jerusalem in August 70 AD. The Antichrist is the leader of the revived Roman Empire according to Revelation.
