January 31st and the Feast of Hecate
January 29, 2003
What might happen on January 31st? On this day in ancient Greece, the Feast of Hecate, known to the Romans as Diana Lucifera was celebrated. This is the supreme goddess of witches - even in the modern day.
Hecate is derived from Greek hekas meaning "far off". In Greek mythology Hecate was a goddess associated with witchcraft, tombs, demons and the underworld. Her many titles include Goddess of the Dark of the Moon, Queen of Witches, Queen of Crossroads, Queen of Death, Goddess of the Scene of the Crime, She Who Works From Afar, and She Who Has Power Far Off.
We are in for some real "heck" very soon.
Thanks for your wonderful radio show.
