Terror Days of Ramadan

September 22, 2003

Ramadan, the Islamic holy month, begins October 27 through November 25, 2003.  To
peaceful, devout Muslims, this is a time of prayer and reflection, but to "extremists," Ramadan
heralds a call to "jihad."

Ramadan is a time when Muslims around the world adhere to a strict regime of fasting (sawm),
prayer, and abstinence from sensual pleasures. Muslims are required to follow the Five Pillars of
Faith: (1) Shahada (the creed of affirmation); a prayer that states, "There is nothing worthy
of worship save Allah, and Muhammad is the Messenger of God; (2) Salat, (prayer), to worship
Allah in prayer five times each day, praying in the direction of Mecca; (3) Zakat (giving) the duty
to distribute help to the poor and needy; (4) Siyam (fasting), to keep the Fast of Ramadan; and
(5) Hajj (the pilgrimage), to make the pilgrimage to Mecca at least once in a lifetime.

As reported in the November 2001-2002, Lampholder Newsletters, the upcoming months
from Ramadan 2002 to Ramadan (1424) in November of 2003, may be one of the most prophetic
events for Muslims.  This time-period will usher in a very important phase in Islamic tradition.

It was during Ramadan when the angel Gabriel appeared to Muhammad, and when Muhammad
first received the revelation of the Qur'an.  According to Islamic tradition, many Muslims are expecting
a significant and extraordinary event.  This Ramadan may heighten the expectations of a major
prophetic event that could very well unfold when "two total eclipses" occur during Ramadan
2003.  Some Muslims believe this time-period may usher in the appearance of the "Twelfth Imam."
A double-eclipse is a major sign that a genuine modern-day Imam (precursor to a prophet) will
emerge; but not without a bloody struggle first. The struggle may just begin during Ramadan.

Sadly, it is a well-known fact that some of the worst massacres, persecutions, and assassinations
have occurred during what was supposed to be a month of doing good to others. For those involved
in "the struggle," the requirement of day-long fasting is waived. In fact, it is not forbidden to make war,
commit acts of terrorism, or enter into conflict during Ramadan. Fighting is not forbidden during
Ramadan - it all just depends on "who" is doing the fighting. If the Muslims fight against the Infidels,
it is permissible, but the Infidels must not fight against the "true" Muslims. All of the Islamic struggles
have been for the sake of Allah, and driving the Infidels or occupiers "out of Muslim lands." --BUT
the problem may just be in the definition/interpretation of "just what are Muslim terroritories?" Here's
a hint: using a globe of the world, place your finger anywhere - including the United States and Israel.

What most people don't understand is the fact the most all of the acts of kindness and benevolence
are directed towards those within the Islamic religion, not the Infidels (or disbelievers) on the outside.
Ramadan is a month designated for purification, striving against evil, and sharing one's good fortune
with others mostly within Islam. Whether it is spoken or not, there are two lines of thought within
Islam - you are either in or you are out, you are either a Muslim or an Infidel.

From The Lampholder 2001 Newsletter:  "Islamic extremists use this time as an excuse to bring
terror to further their cause, what they consider the struggle against injustice. Their wrath is specifically
directed toward what is perceived as the enemies of Islam and infidels; i.e., the U.S., its allies, and
Israel. Remember, the Taliban leader, Mullah Mohammad Omar's BBC interview, November 15,
2001, where he "predicted" a bigger plan within a short period of time "...beyond the will and
comprehension of human beings," where "...we will destroy the U.S.?" According to Omar, it was
a plan to extinguish America. Also, in a December 12, 2001, article by The Washington Times,
on the American Taliban fighter, Bill Gertz wrote that John Walker Lindh's intelligence debriefings
revealed a plan for a biological strike against the U.S. to "...occur at the end of the Muslim holy
month of Ramadan...."  More than likely, this attack would coordinate Uosama bin Laden's plan for
"the black wind" of destruction to come to America (see Lampholder Publications' Index at
<http://www.lampholderpub.com>www.lampholderpub.com ).

It would not be a bit surprising to see increased signs that the remnants of Al Qaeda, along with
other militant Islamic factions, have been doing a lot of recruiting and reorganization. Key areas of
cell operatives in Pakistan, Jordan, Great Britain, France, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, Canada, Israel,
et al, and even from within the United States, may plan some painful surprises this upcoming Ramadan.
The sleeper cells may soon arise from their hideouts.

If war is called upon, the best time for it to happen is during Ramadan. Muslim extremists
zealously defend their faith and aggressively pursue the Infidel with a passionate desire to protect
and defend their Prophet in acts of martyrdom. It was during Ramadan when Muhammed, in March
of A.D. 624 (17 Ramadan), fought to retake Mecca at the Battle of Badr. Saladin Al-Ayyoubi
conquered the Crusaders at the Battle of Hytteen in A.D. 583 which gave Jerusalem to the Muslims.
In A.D 682, a great battle during the Crusades, drove the Crusaders out of Syria. During the month
of Ramadan in A.D. 468, an Egyptian named Saifuddin Qutz, raised a Muslim army to defeat the
Mongolian armies of Genghis Khan who ravaged much of Asia.

Many acts of terror occurred in modern history during the month of Ramadan -

--During the 1980's, Iran/Iraq struggled violently for 8 months, part of it during Ramadan;
--In 1995, Algerian extremists attempted overthrow of the government with intense attacks planned
during Ramadan.

--In 1973, Egypt and Syria began a war against Israel, known to the Jews as the Yom Kippur War
because it occurred on the Jewish holy day of Yom Kippur. To the Arabs, this was known as the
Ramadan War because it occurred during the month of Ramadan.

--In 1991 Algeria, Islamic terrorists unleased horrendous acts of violence killing close to 100,000
people. Some of the innocents were small children including a 13-month-old baby, a strangled
12-year-old boy and five girls had their throats cut.

--In 1997, the Emergency Net News Service reported the following terrorist acts committed during
Ramadan:  12 January: At least 14 people were killed in the village of Tabainat; Five girls are
kidnapped and have their throats cut in the village of Haouch Englise; 14 January: Nine people are
found dead in Algiers, Djebel Koulou and Bab Ali.  At least 12 people were killed when a bomb
explodes at a car market in Boufarik; 19 January: A car bomb explodes in Algiers killing 21 people
and wounding 60 others; At least 36 people are murdered in the village of Sidi Abdelaziz;

  21 January: Six people are killed and 44 others are wounded when a car bomb explodes in Algiers;

22 January: A car bomb kills seven people in a village near Boufarik; 2 February: At least 31 people
are massacred in the village of Medea; 4 February: Nine members of a family have their heads cut
off in al-Khabar and el-Watan...and the list goes on and on....

--In Indonesia, during Ramadan of 1999, thousands of trained, militant Islamic extremists unleashed
murder and terror against Christians killing over 4,500, and forcing over 300,000 homeless refugees
to be uprooted from their land.

--In Algeria, Saturday, December 17, 2000, Muslim extremists, massacred 15 students at a boarding
school. The students were ages between 15 and 17 years old and murdered while they were quietly
sleeping in their beds.

--In Algeria, Sunday, December 18, 2000, other terrorists machine-gunned a bus carrying 15 people,
not military personnel, but civilians.

--Then in 1993, terror within the United States at the World Trade Center bombings which occurred
three days after Ramadan began.

--Several Millennial plots were thwarted in December 1999.

--Other attacks that may have been planned for Ramadan were prevented in January of 2000, against
the USS Sullivans, and against U.S. Naval ships/Embassy in Singapore in the latter part of 2001.

These are only some of the terrorist attacks/wars/battles waged by Muslim extremists during the month
of Ramadan.  Many Islamic extremist movements may very well use the month of Ramadan to taunt the
United States/Israel/allies into a war. When the United States' reacts then the extremists will justify
their struggle, jihad, among Muslims and thereby insure success most likely through martyrdom.

This form of manipulation was used in Afghanistan.  The Muslims accused the United States of
disrespecting their religion by continuing the war against terrorism during Ramadan. Interesting,
especially when taking into account all of the numerous wars the Muslims began during Ramadan
(see above partial list).  This is simply a tactical move using religion as an excuse.  Of course,
President Bush has made it clear that we are not at war with Islam, but against terrorism.
Unfortunately, extremists just may use this as leverage to try and gain a political advantage. The
real tactic here would be to NOT give into terrorism during Islamic holy days. This would disrupt
the call of extremists who act under the guise of Islamic unity.

~ Lailat al-Qadr, The Night of Power
An article appeared in the Lampholder Newsletter, November 30, 2001, revealing the
significance of Lailat al-Qadr, the 27th day during the last ten days of the month of Ramadan.
It read, to Julius Caesar, March 15th would be just like any other day, that is, except for an ominous
warning, "Beware the Ides of March." It is strangely true, but in the mind of many, certain dates,
such as the Ides of March, have a particularly foreboding sense of doom associated with it -
something like remembering that throbbing tooth pounding repeatedly with each successive
heartbeat; or perhaps, something even worse."

To Muslims, Allah's throne contains the words, "My mercy will overcome my anger," so where
is "raheem" (mercy) in Islamic extremism? While many Muslims fast and pray (an act of worship
"ibadah") (Surah al-Baqarah (2), ayah 183), certain days during the month of Ramadan may be
worthy of alarm to everyone else. Terrorism has a particular fondness for reigning down destruction
during Ramadan, especially during what is known as "The Night(s) of Power" or "Lailat al-Qadr."
Islamic extremists, due to a distorted interpretation, may just believe Lailat al-Qadr to be the most
opportune time to spread fear, destruction, terror, and/or death.

Traditionally, Lailat al-Qadr occurs during the last ten days of the month of Ramadan, usually on
the 27th day (this year around November 21). The worst days for terrorist activities will most likely
occur between November 1 through the 23rd; but the two dates that really stand out are at the time
of the Double Eclipses during the month of November. One is on November 9th and the other
November 23rd.  The days in November have a definite foreboding and warning directly aimed at
the United States, Israel, and allies. It may also signify the time for the reappearance of the Imam
Mahdi; and a good reminder to remember that Uosama bin Laden reported in one of his taped
messages that 2003 will be the year of his demise, "in the belly of an eagle." After all of the above
evidence, it would be prudent to keep in mind that the entire month of November should be red-flag
alert days with special emphasis on Quds Day in remembrance of Jerusalem.

It is the Islamic belief that during Ramadan, Allah gave the Qur'an to Muhammad, and there are
27 Arabic words [huruf] in the Surat al-Qadr which equate to the 27th day of the month. (Although,
in the more modern traditions, an Imam may declare The Night(s) of Power to be all of the nights of
the last ten days of Ramadan.) It is also believed that during The Night(s) of Power, the angel Gabriel,
accompanied by a host of lesser angels, come to Earth, the lowest of the seven heavens, to bless those
who worship Allah (Sura 17:85; Sura 25:32).).

Lailat al-Qadr has several meanings. Qadr represents "a decree" [an official, unchangeable
statement in words and/or actions] associated with "destiny and power" [a succession of events
predetermined by fate to bring about the inevitable; fueled by a form of "super"natural power]. Many
Muslims use this time for strengthening their belief in Allah, but the extremists use Lailat al-Qadr as an
excuse to bring terror to further their cause, what they consider the struggle against injustice. Their
wrath is specifically directed toward what is perceived as the enemies of Islam and infidels; i.e., the
U.S., its allies, and Israel. Unfortunately, the definition of Lailat al-Qadr alone should immediately raise
the red-flag alert to nonMuslims and Jews around the world.

According to the Qur'an, Lailat al-Qadr is the revelation that endows Muslims a certain "divine
power." It is a "planned" night(s) in which terrorism is perceived with superhuman capabilities, and
whereby "martyrdom" thrusts the terrorist immediately into paradise. Therefore, the Night(s)
of Power may also been known as "the Night of Decree, the Night of Destiny, and/or the Night of
Predestination."

The Night(s) of Power bring remembrance of the nearness of death, just as Ramadan has a
beginning and an ending. Martyrs are purified through death during this time, immediately arriving in
jannah to receive its rewards/pleasures. This means extremists may believe themselves to be super-
empowered with super-normal capabilities - a sort of superhero of the Islamic world. It is the time
when martyrs are fearless, terrorists bolder, and extremists even more fanatical.

All three of the world's major religions, Christianity, Judaism, and Islam, uphold the importance of
the number seven in prophecy. For instance, there are seven nights comprising a week, seven heavens,
and to Muslims seven ways and/or modes [ahruf] of reciting the Qur'an, etc.

In ancient Islamic prophecy, it is thought uneven numbers have greater importance. The number
"seven" [as-sab'a] has special significance to Islam as Allah swore [aqsama] by seven things, when He
said, in the first seven verses of the Sura of the Sun [Surat ash-Shams] (91:1-7); therefore, one
might conclude the "seventh" night of the final ten days might very well be the most critical of The
Night(s) of Power. The martyrs [shuhada'] of The Night(s) of Power consist of "seven(s)" of those
killed in battle for the "cause" of Allah [al-qatil fi sabili'llah].
