Friday Power Outage Affects 7,100 People in Georgia

Approximately 7,100 in the Cedar Bluff area found themselves without power early Friday morning, April 30, after two Cherokee Electric Cooperative substations went out. According to Julie Ballenger, spokesperson for Cherokee County Electric Cooperative, Gaylesville and Key Substations were affected. The problem was caused by a TVA Bank in a Fort Payne substation, she said. Power was restored to all CEC customers within 45 minutes, she said.
