NEW YORK, May 12 (Reuters) - Valero Energy Corp. on Wednesday shut its 85,000 barrel per day (bpd) refinery in Krotz Springs, Louisiana, because of a power outage, trading sources said.

The company spokeswoman's office had not yet made a statement on the matter.

The plant, trade sources said, is expected to return to service within 24 hours.

Krotz Springs is located in central Louisiana west of Baton Rouge.
