PRESCOTT, Ariz. Arizona Public Service is blaming birds for a power outage today affecting about four-thousand customers in Yavapai County.
Birds also are being blamed by A-P-S for a power outage at the Yavapai County Jail in Prescott this morning.
A-P-S spokesman Mike Johnson says the largest of the two outages affected its Dewey substation, which serves customers in Dewey, Humboldt and the eastern edge of Prescott Valley.
Johnson says a bird's nest caused a short circuit. The outage lasted about 90 minutes.
The outage at the jail in Prescott, says Johnson, also is believed to have been caused by a bird, though they're not sure exactly what happened. The outage occurred about 8:30 a-m and lasted about 45 minutes.
