Bush Notebook
Arguably, the most sought-after items in Guernsey County on Saturday were ponchos and raincoats. Or flashlights.
Steady rain forced those headed toward President Bush's appearance at Don Coss Field to bring rain gear along. Those unlucky enough to forget were left to forage for an alternative.
The public was not allowed to bring umbrellas, which were collected by security personnel outside of the park. Some used signs to cover their heads or wrapped plastic store bags around them to stay dry. Others wore trashbags.
It was rumored many stores had sold out of the wanted items before rally day. Other locations on Ohio 209 were closed during the morning hours because of a power outage.
