New York Crude Breaks Above $45 a Barrel

NEW YORK (AFP) - The price of New York's main crude oil contract shot above 45 dollars for the first time on record as Tropical Storm Bonnie approached the Gulf of Mexico.

New York's benchmark contract, light sweet crude for delivery in September, leapt 20 cents to 45.04 dollars a barrel mid-morning.
