NBC13 has learned a security alert has been issued for an area along Interstate 65 north, near Gardendale.

FBI agents, Birmingham and Gardendale police have pulled over an 18-wheel truck and have closed the highway.

Secret Service agents tell NBC13 this incident has something to do with homeland security.

The truck was stopped on the northbound lanes of the interstate, near the Fieldstown exit. Traffic is now being diverted onto the Fieldstown exit.

NBC13 has a crew on the scene and reports agents are inspecting the exterior of the 18-wheeler. A Jefferson County bomb squad has also arrived on the scene.

At least one person is in the custody of Birmingham police, but there are no reports of an arrest.
Police on the scene will not confirm if the person being held is the driver.
