HQ Intel-Alert: MANPADS Warning for EU and Japanese Commercial Carriers

June 14, 2004

In going through images I have recieved this weekend (these came in an email from Laura) I feel a re-issue of a MANPAD warning for European and Japanese commercial air carriers is warranted if not imperative. I have attached the two specific images.

These two very specific images of a Jihadist with MANPAD on his shoulder over a background of the flag of the European Union and the National flag of Japan are circulating in Jihadi web forums.

This kind of image has indicated a planned MANPAD attack against commercial aircraft in the past...particularly the attempt against an Israeli aircraft in Kenya last year in which two SAM-7's were fired. I believe these images are indicative that Al-Qaeda is threatening specific attacks against EU and Japanese commercial aircraft. We all know that Al Qaeda's modus operandi is to tell what they are going to do and then they go out and do it. Clearly more innocent human life is at stake regarding this specific threat.

Please post these specific images and a warning on the website. In light of the world-wide attention we are getting this is the easiest way to get a "Threat Warning" from us to those being threatened. The images speak for themselves - they are worth more than a thousand words.
