PHOENIX - Bomb threats to an elementary school that served as a polling place forced officials to move students and voting from the campus Tuesday morning.
Three calls placed early in the morning made bomb threats to Longview Elementary School, said Phoenix police spokeswoman Sgt. Lauri Williams.
Police searched the school and didn't find anything.
However, Maricopa County elections officials decided to move the voting to a nearby church.
School officials also transferred students to another campus, said Tom Horne, state superintendent of public instruction.
Signs and personnel to direct voters to the new polling place would be available for some time, said Yvonne Reed, a spokeswoman for the Maricopa County Elections Office.
It could take nearly an hour before voting equipment and supplies were moved from the school to the church, Reed said.
