How do you say goodbye to this life
And a country you will never really know
How do you release the memories
When God says to let them go.
How do you express the deepest sorrow
For this life that is all too brief
While struggling to maintain sanity
Against forces that cause nothing but grief.
How do you forget the gifts from God
That kept you going for another day
How do you forget music that touched your soul
When time says to put it away.
How does the heart say goodbye
When a few memories are all that remain
Of flowers that never fully bloomed
Raised up in sorrow with so much pain.
How does the spirit weeping before God
At the loss of family and friends
Knowing in all of eternity
You will never pass this way again.
But the River of Life will flow again
Into our hearts to find a home
God will regather His people once more
To find true Joy we've never known.
