SAN FRANCISCO -- Employees at the Discover Financial Services headquarters in Riverwoods, Ill. can now pay for their morning coffee, snacks, and other meals with the touch of a finger, thanks to the company's alliance with Pay By Touch, which was introduced in the company's employee cafeteria last week.
After a one-time enrollment, Discover employees can use a simple finger scan to make cafeteria purchases -- without their wallet or Discover® Card -- every time they pay.
"Our employees are among our 50 million Cardmembers, and they can now experience the latest in payment technology by literally putting their Discover Card at their fingertips," said Diane Offereins, Executive Vice President and CIO, Discover Financial Services.
The implementation of Pay By Touch at the Discover cafeteria is an extension of the two companies' strategic marketing alliance announced in August 2004, which puts Discover on the map as one of the first financial services companies to align itself with a viable biometric payment option. The alliance has enabled marketing programs that increase daily usage of the Discover Card at retail point of sale and drive adoption of Pay By Touch.
"Pay By Touch and Discover have already partnered together for several successful retail store pilots," said John Rogers, founder, chairman, and CEO of Pay By Touch. "Creating a more convenient environment in the workplace is a benefit, and now that Discover employees are in the Pay By Touch network, they will be able to use it externally as we continue to expand the Pay By Touch offering with retailers across the country."
