Ric
talked to a friend in Boaz, AL.last night. he is and has been real big into the VFW. runs the operation there, books, members records, hall expenses etc. as well as doing a lot of stuff himself.
this fine gentleman just happens to be re-tired from a life time of service, 83 yrs old. WW2, Korea and Nam.
the top brass from the pent. visited him a couple of days ago at the Hall (VFW) 6am just after he goes in. his usual time frame. said they snuck in behind him, apparently watched him for a while, he turned and seen them and of course spooked him. said he looked at them (said they were very young and in civvies) and asked who the f... are you? what the hell you want here other then getting dead by slippin up on a man like that?
said they were from the pent., showed him there I.D. and asked for all records of present and past members, to include personal addys., any financial info, t.numbers, c. phone records/numbers, all activities they have been involved with known to the Hall there, records of all past members and others they had officiated at for burial, any personal info. on premise regarding same. how often these members used the club, how much they contributed to the Hall and other members, if they moved or switched Hall's any and all info on same.
Dayton (friends name) told them to take a flying F..., they were not getting anything from him. said they told him if he did not give then all records/cd's/files on each person involved with the VFW by July 24 that it was a criminal offence and he would go to jail. guess they didn't know Dayton. told them to straight to hell, wasn't giving them nothing. they said that fine, you will just go to jail. Dayton told them "hey, I'm 83 years old, no wife, what the hell else have I got to do? you think I haven't been there before? lets go!"also said "you dumb shits keep messin with me, there's a shredder setting right there (pointing at it) and I know how to use it. cd's burn real easy and as far as the computer goes, well they f... up all the time." said they turned to leave when one of them told him it was a matter of national security and he had until the 24th to get everything in order for them when they came back.
I told Dayton that they best have a "break-in"and the pc along with all the records gets gone before the brass comes and does it themselves.
They had been watching him, new the exact times he was at the hall, when he left and where he went when he left.
whets your take? doesn't look good to me. Jim
