Arabs United In Terror
May 22, 2002
Despite recent mixed-message calls by PLO chieftain Yasser Arafat to stop terrorism against Israel, all the groups that make up the National and Islamic Forces are on the verge of signing a joint memorandum confirming the Palestinian right to use violence against Israel. The IDF spokesman notes that this umbrella group comprises not only Hamas, Islamic Jihad, PFLP, and DFLP, but also Arafats own Fatah. The organization's emblem features of a map of the entire State of Israel, indicating that the factions' common ideological denominator is to destroy all of Israel and replace it with a Palestinian state. The forces were established at the beginning of the Oslo War, with the approval of Yasser Arafat, as the united Arab leadership responsible for coordinating terror activity against Israel since then.
In other P.A. news, the highest PA court ruled last night that Fuad Shubaki, the man who organized the Karin-A weapons smuggling ship, must be released from custody. The "judges" found him innocent of the charges because of what they called a "lack of evidence." Shubaki is being held under American and British supervision in a Jericho prison, according to the terms of an agreement between Israel and the PA. Long-wanted by Israel, he had been hiding out with Arafat in the Mukata compound until his transfer to Jericho. The PA, so far, has not attempted to carry out the court ruling.
