Temple Mount Tensions Resume
May 27, 2002
The Temple Mount may soon become a battleground once again. Following a recent recommendation by the GSS to re-open the site - the holiest in the world for Jews - to Jewish worshipers, Jerusalem Police Chief Mickey Levy said this week that the police are preparing for such an eventuality. In response, Adnan al-Husseini, head of the Moslem Waqf at the site, threatened that he would not allow non-Moslems to enter. "Only Palestinians will decide who will and who will not enter," he said. Jews have not been allowed to pray there for the past 20 months, since the beginning of the Oslo War.
