Police Dig Up Body In Pearl Hunt

Police have found a body they suspect may be that of Daniel Pearl.

Three men arrested in connection with his murder directed police to the spot where they said he had been buried.

Police said they found a body and tests are being conducted.

Police dug up the body in an open field in a poor neighbourhood on the western edge of Karachi A police official said the body is not being removed from the site.

No further information was immediately available about the three new suspects.

The Wall Street Journal reporter was kidnapped January 23 in Karachi and a three-minute video was delivered to US officials in Karachi a month later showing his brutal death.

Four men have been on trial since April 22 on charges of murder and kidnapping. They have pleaded innocent.
