A London-based newspaper has quoted fugitive Taliban leader Mullah Mohammad Omar as saying that terrorist mastermind Osama bin Laden is very much alive.

The newspaper reportedly interviewed Mullah Omar through an aide of Mohammad Omar. The newspaper however did not publish any recent pictures of the Taliban leader.

The London-based Ashraq-al-Awsat reported: ''Sheikh Osama is still alive, praise god, and this is causing anguish to US President George Bush who promised his people to kill Osama not knowing that lives are in the hands of God.''

Mullah Omar, who is said to be hiding in the Afghanistan mountains, warned the war US has waged against his country is not over. And that its fire will reach the White House, “the headquarters of injustice and tyranny''.

''The future of America in Afghanistan is fire, hell and a certain loss as had been the case with the Soviet Union and before that with the British occupation,'' he said.

Omar denied any link to the September 11 attacks, but said, ''There were reasons behind these great deeds. America should seek to remove these reasons -- and it knows them well -- so that such accidents do not reoccur.''

The papers also reported that the article will also be uploaded on the official Taliban site.
