Very soon there are going to be restrictions put in place that will prevent a 62 year old person who is no longer contributing to the system from getting surgeries necessary for improving their way of life.

Steve,
I received this email from a friend of mine. Please post, without our
names, so that other veterans may be warned.

Dear Diane,

You know I'm not quick to jump on every conspiracy bandwagon. Besides, it
wouldn't do me much good to jump because I'd probably fall flat on my face.
I've had to just put my faith in God that if there was a reason for serious
concern, then He would show me where it was and what I was to do about it.
And you know that the Lord has provided for me and my family in respect to
some of those "warnings". But yesterday I received another warning and I've
been praying about it considerably ever since. Knowing your situation I
thought I'd pass the warning on to you as well.

The Warning: I was sent to a doctor (I won't mention his name) to have my
knee and hip reassessed for my disability case with the VA. After doing a
much more thorough exam than any other doctor I've been to he asked me to
sit down and got a very dire look on his face. Then he told me that as far
as my knee was concerned it appears that the only recourse left would be a
complete knee replacement and that my hip wasn't too far behind. I told him
that the docs at the VAMC had said the same thing about my knee. He asked
if that's where I was going to have it done and, of course, I told him I
didn't have much choice since I no longer have outside health insurance.
That's when he got VERY serious. He leaned forward and said "I'm gonna tell
you something now and I need you to pay very close attention to me."
Noticing the seriousness in his tone I too got serious. Then he went on;
"If you're planning to have knee replacement done, get it done NOW. Do not
wait not until next year, do not even wait until next month to make
arrangements. Go this week and make your arrangements because it won't be
much longer and you won't be able to get it done.. ever". I asked him why
and all he would say was that "very soon there are going to be restrictions
put in place that will prevent a 62 year old person who is no longer
contributing to the system from getting surgeries necessary for improving
their way of life. Especially if they have to go through a military or
government run hospital." He went on to say that "very soon, the only way
to get such things as a knee or hip replacement will be to pay for it out
of pocket to one of many private facilities.. if you're financially able."
Then he said.. "I know a lot of people who are very concerned about what's
coming. If you think the care you got at the VAMC was bad before, it's
nothing compared to what's coming."

I kept trying to convince myself that he was just overreacting to
something. But he was so adamant and told me over and over again, maybe a
dozen times, "This is no joke, I'm not kidding, you need to get this taken
care of NOW!"

I left his office feeling very dismayed and the more I thought about what
he'd said to me the more concerned I got. So, I called this morning and
left a message with my PCP's office telling them I wanted the referral to
get my knee surgery done. I haven't heard back from them yet, but I'm
giving them until Monday and then I'll go up there if they haven't called
back.

Then I thought I'd better let you know. You need to get your hip taken
care of.. now. I have faith in God that we aren't getting these warnings
for no reason. And if you know anyone else that is dependent on the gov for
medical needs either through a doctor, hospital or insurance, you might
want to pass this on to them. I fear the time is growing very near when we
will be "on our own".

Thanks for being a beacon, Steve.
