LOCK DOWN DRILL REPORT FROM SCHOOL TEACHER IN SOUTH CAROLINA-'IT WAS CREEPY

Steve,

I am a high school teacher in Rock Hill, South Carolina. I have read about
the school lockdowns and evacuations. Yesterday, Friday 18 September, we
had a lockdown drill at my school. We have had lockdown drills before, but this
one was very different. After the indicator was made, a code word, over
the P.A. system, we locked our doors, turned out lights, and had kids
huddled in the corner of classrooms out of line of sight from windows, etc.
Instead of merely checking doors, the Resource Officer and others, pulled
violently on doorknobs and made genuine efforts to enter classrooms.
Before this drill, the administration had simply checked to see if
classroom doors were locked. Then, while waiting for the "all clear" to
sound, we heard the fire alarm. This was done to see if teachers would be
lured out of their rooms. This had never been done before. This was also
the longest we had been "locked-down." The principal of the school used
the P.A. to announce the end of the drill and not to be drawn into the
hallways as a result of other alarms. It was "creepy." I am a veteran and
have worked in Law Enforcement prior to teaching, so I have seen some
strange and scary things before.
Thank you for all you and the other watchmen, your sacrifices and
dedication to the Lord and people. May God bless you and the other
watchmen in the ways you need all may need to sustain and inspire. I
believe.
Sincerely,
D.
