Steve,

I have written you a few times in the past, but not recently. I'm in NE Oregon. In the past three days or so the fires have erupted. A lot of folks are being evacuated in the past 12 hours from their homes. The fires are growing at an amazing rate (from 200 acres to 15,000 in a day). We are having charcoaled bark and pine needles falling like snow on our home and barnyard.

All I ask is for some prayer. Most folks around here are "salt of the earth" type people. Cattle ranchers, and older retired folks (in the areas affected so far). The fires are not far from town (16 miles yesterday, less than 10 today). It's a pretty "awe inspiring" thing, so suddenly.
