FORMER STATE DEPARTMENT, AIR WING CONTRACTOR,STATIONED IN BOTH AFGHANISTAN AND IRAQ CHECKS IN ON STATE DEPARTMENT LACK OF PLANNING!

GOOD MORNING STEVE AND GOD BLESS YOU,

I HAVE TO SHARE THIS. WHEN I WAS IN AFGHANISTAN, I WORKED AS A CONTRACTOR TO THE DEPARTMENT OF STATE AIRWING. THE BLUE AND WHITE CH-46S AND THE ALL LIGHT GREY CH-46S BELONG TO THE STATE DEPARTMENT. I KNOW THOSE AIRCRAFT ALL TO WELL, BECAUSE I WAS WORKING WITH DOS AIRWING BOTH IN IRAQ AND IN AFGHANISTAN. THE LOCATION WHERE ALL THE HELICOPTERS WERE EVACUTAING PEOPLE IS KNOW AS THE SOCCERFIELD WHICH CAN FIT 4 CH-47 (BIGGER THEN THE 46)

IN THE ABSENCE OF THE SENIOR AVIATION ADVISER AND HIS DEPUTY (THEY ADVISE THE AMBASSADOR AND SENIOR LEADERSHIP), I SAT IN A MEETING AT THE EMBASSY IN KABUL IN 2016, TO DISCUSS EVACUATION OF SOME 42,000 AMERICANS AT THAT TIME.

STATE DEPARTMENT HAD NO UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT IT WOULD TAKE TO MOVE THAT MANY PEOPLE OUT, THEY ASSUMED THAT IT WOULD TAKE LESS THAN TWO WEEKS. I HAD SPECIFICALLY TOLD EVERYONE IN THAT MEETING THAT IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE AND COULD NOT BE DONE LOGISTICALLY.

THE AIRCREW WAS ONLY AUTHORIZED X (NUMERICAL VALUE) AMOUNT OF HOURS OF FLIGHT TIME PER DAY AND X (-2 HOURS FROM X) OF FLIGHT TIME PER NIGHT UNDER NVGS. THEY WOULD ALSO NEED CREW REST.

STATE DEPARTMENT DIDNT EVEN KNOW THAT A SEVEN MINUTE FLIGHT FROM KABUL AIRPORT TO THE SOCCER FIELD AND BACK TO KABUL, COULD TURN INTO A TOTAL OF 20-25 MINUTES TO DO ONE ROTATION FOR PASSENGERS (TAXING, TAKE OFF ETC). THIS WOULD MEAN THAT THE NUMBER OF PASSENGERS PER HOURS WOULD BE A MAX OF POSSIBLY 20-30 PER HOUR (LOAD DEPENDS ON TEMPERATURE ).

IN ADDITION TO THIS, I TOLD THEM THEN, THAT IF THEY WERE GOING TO EVCUATE PEOPLE THEY NEEDED TO BEGIN IMMEDIATELY, BUT STARTING PRIMARILY WITH ALL NON-MISSION ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL AT THE EMBASSY FIRST. THE PLAN WAS TO GIVE AMERICANS ENOUGH NOTICE TO LEAVE AFGHANISTAN BEFORE SOMETHING ACTUALLY HAPPENED.

IT BREAKS MY HEART THAT THE PLANS THAT WE GAVE THEM, THEY FAILED TO ADHERE TO. AS A MARINE COMBAT VETERAN, MYSELF AND MANY OTHERS ARE HEART BROKEN FOR THE MANY WHO DIED FOR NO REASON.

YESTERDAY, THE LORD BROKE ME WITH A BURDEN FOR THE AFGHAN PEOPLE. WE AS A NATION HAVE DONE EVIL TO THEM BY ABANDONING THEM. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THAT I SEE THIS HAPPEN, I SAW IT IN IRAQ AND NOW I SEE IT AND UNDERSTAND MORE. I PRAY FOR THE AFGHAN PEOPLE ESPECIALLY THOSE WHO HELPED US THAT THE LORD WOULD HELP THEM ESCAPE ALONG WITH THEIR FAMILY.

GOD IS GOING TO CONTINUE TO PUNISH US FOR THIS AND MANY MORE THINGS WE HAVE DONE.J.
