My cousin works at a medium size power plant in central California. I just finished a conversation via Skype with him and he told me that they are on high alert to maintain the power grid over the next several days, especially as the heat wave approaches California. He has been a powerplant operator for nearly 25 years and he said in all his years, he has never seen the level of urgency or number of alerts being sent out by PG&E (Pacific Gas & Electric) to maintain the power grid ... they are seriously concerned it is going to crash. He said much of the problem stems from the fact that there are numerous plants shut down for not being "green enough" ... several coal plants are closed for the same reason ... and the San Onofre plant is down due to bad solutions to a known problem and will cost too much to ever fix. In all, he said Sunday and Monday are considered to be "critical" days for the power grid there.

I found it interesting that at the same time this is going on, there are the multi-national war games going on in southern California ... especially training for urban crowd control / combat. Toward that end, many of my military contacts have also gone dark in the past month.

As for the birds, we have noticed the same thing here in northwest Oklahoma. The buzzard and crow population seem to have doubled, at least, compared to last year. The other thing of note is that they are much more brazen ... there are times they simply WILL NOT get out of the way of traffic! But, as the others have shared, we do pray over the town and farms and they stay away. The properties of Believers still have plenty of song birds and dove. The Lord is amazing ... He promises He will never leave nor forsake those who are faithful and obedient to Him!
