S.A.L.U.T.E.-HELPFUL ACRONYM FOR IDENTIFICATION AND REPORTING OF SIGHTINGS
Regarding the spec-ops admonition alert of March 28 to have folks send more useful information, perhaps this will help people remember what to report when making a report:
Use the S.A.L.U.T.E. Report when reporting any information. This will ensure all information is accurate and complete. Size Acitivity Location Unit Time Equipment.
*S=SIZE of enemy force. Actual numbers if possible. (Squad=12, Platoon=38, Company=145, Battalion=600)
*A=ACTIVITIES of the enemy. (If moving, give direction and method of transportation. Take your time. Be specific. Include small details, even if they seem insignificant.)
*L=LOCATION. Geographic coordinates, or clear description.
*U=UNIT IDENTIFICATION. (Markings, symbols, uniforms, vehicles, agency markings.)
*T=TIME and DATE of sighting.
*E=EQUIPMENT carried by the enemy. (To include: type weaponry, webgear, electronics, night vision, body armor, vehicles, tents, etc.)
This should help anybody with reports.
